Long Table Lates: Humm

We’re delighted to welcome the wonderful Humm on Thursday 23rd July to The Long Table Lates!

Arty Jackson and Carys Lewin are a southwest based contemporary folk duo with stories to tell, minds to change and worlds to re-imagine. Creating music which unites fellow nature-lovers with their inner activist.

Rooted in traditional music, Humm have created a new, eclectic sound, with influences ranging from John Martyn and Joni Mitchell to Paul Simon, Eels, Radiohead and XTC. Casting a collective spell over young and old since 2018 with their rich harmonium drones, melodic finger-style guitar and lush ethereal vocals. Humm take listeners on a twisted journey through love and heartbreak, telling folkloric tales of Welsh saints and Greek sinners, Cornish fairy tales and mediaeval legends.

Being staunch environmentalists themselves they find their music always leads back to one place: the importance of planet preservation. With the natural world at the heart of Humm’s music, soaring melodies and wistful instrumentation bring their earnest lyrics to life, solidifying their place in folk music.

TLT Lates: Emma Miller + Arbouring

Join us on Friday 20th March for the next event in our live music series, The Long Table Lates, with Emma Miller and Arbouring!

Scottish songstress Emma Miller has long been touted for her spellbinding voice and poignant lyricism. Her music is relational, real and deeply layered. With influences ranging from teenage years listening to Imogen Heap and Joni Mitchell to discovering voices like Kate Bush, Annie Lennox and Sarah McLachlan, it’s Miller’s unique blend of powerful melodies, deeply personal songwriting and crystal clear, bell-like vocals that make her a truly captivating artist and performer. Cult magazine CLASH noting "her folk-hewn work has blossomed into something remarkable” and BBC 6 Music's Tom Robinson proclaiming her vocals as "rich as a Belgium truffle”.

Support for the evening comes from Stroud based folk duo Arbouring
